Business
Meeting A. Committee Review President
– Dea Deming Ø April is a new
membership year!!!!!! Ø Membership year runs
April-March!!! All members need to complete a new application to update
our directory info. Ø Annual dues are $45
(includes CE Library privileges)—dues to stay the same this year!
Individual meetings are $25
Students are free of charge!
Membership includes access to the CE Lending Library!!! Ø

CO. SITE LOCATION CHANGE: Effective at the May meeting, MESPA is back

- We appreciate BMC hospitality and also extend our gratitude to Kindred for
taking MESPA back!!! Please let others know. This change has been
posted on the website and sent via our email distribution list!!! (Remove from next Agenda) Ø MESPA has transitioned
to a Light Fare at meetings. There was considerable waste due to fluctuating
attendance and we need to be fiscally responsible. (Remove from next Agenda) Ø There are still OPEN
EB positions as listed below. If interested in a position, please let me
know. Ø We always welcome any
ideas you may have on topics as well as what you feel is needed to continue
to improve this organization. Please feel free to talk with anyone on
the EB at any meeting or email your ideas to me. Again, your ideas are
always welcome! Ø Please let us know of
any topics or speakers you may be interested in. We are still looking for
speakers to complete the 2010 calendar!!! Ø We are also looking at
ways to increase our membership/exposure. You should be aware of
MESPA’s current financial position and consider if you would like MESPA
to continue forward as a local educational and networking resource. Ø Please remember to
return your name tags after each meeting. Ø EXECUTIVE BOARD
MEETING!!! We need to set up a conference call to finalize the bylaws
and discuss any position ideas/concerns. Please let me know about Aug. 17,
Aug. 18, or Aug. 19 at 8 pm??? I will make the arrangements and email the
conference call instructions. Vice
President of Marketing and Community Relations -Darla Freeman-LeVay
(Hillsborough Co). Pinellas Co-OPEN Ø Continue to remember
to contact Darla regarding any local conferences in an effort to spread the
word about MESPA. Ø Darla has business
cards as well as pens that can and will be distributed to members and at
conferences and related events to help spread the word about MESPA.
Please meet up with Darla if you would like some business cards or pens to

Report
– Susan Shonbrun (Hillsborough Co); OPEN (Pinellas Co)-Dea
Deming is providing coverage in the interim. Ø The agenda will be
available via email prior to that meeting. The handouts for the presentation
may be provided via email if provided by the speaker prior to the
meetings. If you are not receiving these, please let Susan or Dea know
so that we get the information to you. Ø No email handouts for
tonight’s presentation. Director of
Finance and Membership - Suzanne Schneider Ø
Account balance: $647.11 Ø
Tonight’s Attendance: 22 including one student Ø
Current Membership: 15 (includes EB members) Ø Keep in mind we
provide speaker gratitude gifts of $25 each meeting (decreased from $50 due
to our current financial concerns) and provide a light fare for members. Ø Dues are $45/year
(same as last year). Individual meetings are $25 and students continue
to be free of charge. Please encourage students to attend. Ø C.E.U.’s
are still very inexpensive with 1.5 earned during each meeting and if
attending all meetings throughout the year, each member can earn 18
C.E.U.’s each year for $45. Ø MESPA has “gone
green”. We will email directories at member request and email
periodic updates. To be available in August for the current membership
year. Ø NO MESPA GRANT AVAIL

Dea requested information on credits for the last two
programs obtained. Patte to let Joyce know re: hours on new CEs. Ø
Bylaws need to be updated as well. Continuing
Education Report – Jan Sloan-Hacker (Hillsborough Co. VP and Andi
Hunsinger (Pinellas Co. VP) Ø You must attend a
minimum of 1 hour and 15 minutes of the speaker topic to receive your
CEU’s. If speaker presentations do not meet the minimum
requirements we will hold a “round table” discussion after the
topic presentation to fulfill the C.E.U. requirements. Ø You will receive
continuing education credit if you paid for the meeting or are a
member. CE Library Coordinator – OPEN (Interim:
Patte Kinsel and Andi Hunsinger) Ø Due to this position
being OPEN, Andi and Patte has agreed to be the interim CE
Coordinators. Thank you Andi and Patte!!! Ø The CE
Library has gone “virtual”….should you wish to check out a
CE tape/material: Please send an email request to Andi at andi@tampabay.rr.com
or Patte at latebloomer@verizon.net
o They will make sure
the material is available at the next meeting or make arrangements for you to
obtain. Ø Remember that tapes
are available for checkout to earn additional CEU’s. An 80% passing
mark is required to receive CEU’s. Ø This library service
is free to members and no fees are assessed unless the tapes are late.
Tapes can be checked out for 2 months with a $5 fee assessed the first late
month and $10 a month fee thereafter. Ø Executive
Board needs to look at CE tapes and check hours. There is a discrepancy
between what we have now and what we had two years ago. B. Clinical Questions/CEU
opportunities: 1. Brain Based Disorders,
Human Memory and Cognitive Assessment.
